omphalos
i wanted to share this song because it has become such a part of the fabric of my life. it's called omphalos by a band named cerberus shoal. they're a relatively obscure art-rock band with lots of different iterations of members.
anyways, i think it's really pretty. especially the ending. i think it may be the prettiest composition of sounds that i've ever experienced in a piece of music. give it a listen.

the end of this song reminds me of one of the most beautiful moments of my life:
with aaron and his brother luke in the james river, just off of belle isle, on a hot summer's day last year. the water holding me, flowing through and around me, supporting life in countless ways everywhere i could see, a train going round a bend on the bank across the way, a lovely and the most haunting rumble-groan-moan i've ever heard emenating from it's steel wheels on steel rails: it was crying out the history it's seen cut it's way across the land. the destruction and change it's seen, the death and rebirth, the seemingly ceaseless machine of human Progress, set next to the life-giving waters of the james.
